How to change spark plug wires

Hi, I have found many posts on changing plugs but I cant find how to change the spark plug wires on my 2003 SLK230. I have a misfire on plug 2. I changed all 4 plugs, switched coils but it still showed misfire on #2. I bought 4 boots and changed only #2 and realized that this would not help. Can anyone give me advise on how to change the wires that all seem to be black taped and disappear under a metal cover. Any advice would be appreciated. I dont want to take to garage now that I have done much work myself. thanks

I have some confusion on this, assuming all slk230s are the same from 98 to 03. the only two spark plug wires are under the red cover and go to 1 and 3 spark plugs off the coil packs and coil packs go directly to 2 and 4 plugs. Which other wires might you be referring to?

My 2003 SLK 230 has 4 coils above 4 plugs with 4 wires running from each coil down to a wire harness that is covered by a metal top plate. this sounds different than what you are describing. I also so only pictures of 2 coils on threads to change plugs. This is differnt than most.

so there is a difference on later model 170s. Mine is a 98 and has 2 coils. I guess they started using the four coils in 2000. Learn something new everyday, thanks. if you've replaced everthing and there's not a short or a bad connection, like at the control module. there's not much between the coil packs and the control module but wire. you might want to have it diagnosed to be sure or maybe you might want to get the CarMD reader.

maybe a clogged or defective injector?
