Hi!

I bought 2005 SLK-350 (48K miles) CPO last week from Benz dealer. I have a concern about Transmission. When the car goes below 20 miles speed (no gas/ no brake) the transmission engages and try to stop the car. A grinding noise also comes at the same time.

My other Japanese car rolls over smoothley and eventually comes to a stop in the similar situation. This is my first Benz + Sports car and I want to make sure that this car does not have any transmission or other issue that I need to worry about.

BTW, the car runs great otherwise and accelarates fine both in automatioc and manual mode, the issue is only at slow speed.

Not sure what you mean by a grinding noise but they can change down into 1st gear when you slow pullinmg the car up abruptly. A trans readaption may help.
I would go back ans ask the dealer what they think..

I did take the car to dealer and they said downshifting is OK, however, they saidnoise is coming from tyre. I am worried about this noiseand transmission engaging to slow down the car at lower spped (No gas/No brake).

What is readaption, is it reprogramming of Trans?

in your case it requires soft ware adption is your box 7speed?or ???????????if its 7 speed they do need a lot of soft ware programing only once and it should be fine....
