A couple of weeks ago I noticed that my car had an acceleration lag of about three seconds when I would hit the gas. Now when I hit the gas the car has no acceleration! The car starts fine and has no rough idle but when I hit the gas pedal, the car does nothing. I can only go three miles an hour! I need my car so I can get to work. Any help would be appreciated!

You don't mention model / year / mileage etc!

Is the CEL Check Engine Light ON?
If so its likely in "Limp Home".

Subject to above it is possible that the EA Electronic Accelerator system (fly by wire) has failed. The accelerator pedal potentiometer wears out (mechanical) or water gets into the servo motor attached to the throttle butterfly. The latter fits your symptoms bette.

Get the DTC Diagnostic Codes read on the car. Any set?
