Fuel Door?

Don't Laugh. I just bought home a '99 SLK230 for my wife. I have read the manual front to back and searched everywhere. How do I open the fuel door. I located the manual release in the trunk and my key remote does not open it. Whats the secret?

APPLY DIRECT PRESSURE (PUSH IN) TO ONE SIDE OF THE FUEL DOOR USUALLY CLOSER TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR (OR THE OTHER)...THE ONLY TIME U CAN'T OPEN THE FUEL DOOR MANUALLY IS WHEN THE CAR IS LOCKED....GERMAN AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERS FIGURE THAT NO ONE WOULD WANT TO ADD FUEL TO YOUR CAR & WHO THE HELL WOULD SIPHON GAS FROM A BENZ!?!
