A/C Compressor

A/C Compressor
Well, my a/c compressor has taken a dump. The dealers estimates $1400 to repair. My question is, when replacing the a/c compressor, does the ecu need to be reprogrammed? Or is it just plug and play. I found a few used ones for $250 on car-parts.com and few remanufactures for $500. The dealer estimated the labor at 4 hours ($98 per H) AND $1K FOR THE COMPRESSOR.
Please help guys. Can I just get a used compressor and put it in without any electrical hassle?

Thanks.

RE: A/C Compressor
plug and play.
just don't turn the ignition "on" when the system is empty with freon. or else, the "ec" light will come on and you will need to delete the fault using diagnostic computer.

RE: A/C Compressor
Well. I tested the a/c compressor by dropping a (-) into the compressor wire and the clutch kicked in so my comressor works. However, I am unable to put tthe dye into the a/c system to find a leak(I think the psi is too high in the line). I may have electrical problems with a/zc not turning on. I think the only fix the dealer have to to replace the full system. And when theyt charge you $100+ for estimate, they just plug in the computer and tell you to replace all of the parts with bad code.
