Hi,

Other than the radio code you will loose steering angle position. This only requires you to move steering from lock to lock to recalibrate.

The engine cover literally jerks off in an upward direction. No positive fixes, just 4 or 6 rubber bobbins and spring clips.
Hold cover firmly and jerk ensuring you distribute you effort as evenly as possible to prevent part of the cover fracturing.

Thanks Stuart, appreciate quick response. The reason for removing the engine cover is to locate the vacuum feed to the headlight adjusters which are u.s.Do you know where it is located?
Thanks'

Hi Paul.

I take it you are UK located! I noticed your desciption for "not working" LOL.

I'm not exactly sure where the source of the vac/pressure is for the headlamps however I had never associated it with the engine. Most manufacturers use electric motors but MB is definitely pneumatics. I observe that the tube connections are as for the door locks.

The headlights are controlled by a switch on the dash. This is a more likely cause of the problem and examination will enable you to determine whether vac/pressure is getting to the switch. I would not be surprised if the vac/pressure used for the doors (supplied by the PSE pump in the rear of the car) is used.

Sorry I can't be much more help at this point. My WIS has gone wrong and everything is from experience rather than some clever book or whatever.

Stuart.
Because pse vac pump only runs when you lock/unlock car and is directly plumbed to locks.
The heater switch over from outside to recirvc also uses va. from engine. A small tank is behind glove box

Thanks guys, sorry to be thick but where exactly is the take off from the engine?
Ihave found what seems be a vacuun source,a white plastic pipe at the rear of the engine, but the feed pipes to the lights are orange.Do I need to remove the engine cover to find?
Also Bazzle is the supply tank behind the glove box on RH drive vehicles?
