BAS/ASR Malfunction Light

Hi, I'm a newbee and am having trouble with my SLK230. Battery was discharged so I charged it. Reinstalled battery and engine is now idling roughly and no RPMs over 1000. The BAS/ASR malfunction indicator goes on and stays on at startup. Battery was tested after charging (12.65V and 660 Amps cranking power). Does anyone know what I can do? Is there a reset button somewhere? Does this require a service visit :-(

Thanks Sleepwalker. Your analysis fits the symptoms. Shall take the car to dealer for servicing.

Had car towed to dealer (40 miles). Accelerator Software was hosed - memory was erased. I didn't know that the accelerator is managed by a microcontroller - thought it was mechanically linked. Anyway, dealer had to reprogram the controller's memory. After $350, all is OK ($160 for tow & $200 for repair). All I can say is be VERY careful when removing the battery.

the only memory it has was to remember the opening position for the closed and fully open flap. from there, it will control the idle speed by about 0.7 to 1.7 degrees angle... depending on the adaptation on which the passage are sometimes restricted by the accumulation of dirt.

by leaving the ignition "on" for about 20 minutes can make the computer program the throttle valve by itself.

have a nice weekend.
