The American SLK

Here's the Xfire with Mercedes wheels, slk seats and scuff plate. I put in a dash kit too. wasn't overly fond of the interior. being a slk at heart, it makes getting parts easier and cheaper than going through Chrysler. It also opens your choices for many options and upgrades. If Chrysler had actually made the car, my wife and I wouldn't have bought a coupe for me and a roadster for her. There are some really great buys out there on the xfire now, I don't think most people know what they really are.. I picked this 05 up for 11k with 17,000 miles on her and put another $4,000 worth of goodies into her. The wife's roadster was 16k with 19,000 miles. Once you buy a daimler product, at least for me, they are impossible the get rid of. I still have my old 90 300sl and our 98 slk230. yes, the sl is mine. that's MY baby. 4 cars makes the garage a bit tight, but I love them all and can never see parting with any of them, plus I really do enjoy working on them, a great hobby. it's been awhile since I've had any problems with any of them, so it's just been the usual maintenance for over a year, knock on wood. most work has envolved the sl anyway. that car has been a money pit. what do you expect from a 22 year old car?

a joy to drive too.

A true pos...

I disagree. Unless the slk320 is a pos too. The Xfire came out of the same Karmann plant as the slk. Open the hood and there is nothing different. I have issues with the interiors of both cars, it's not a sl. As far as the running gear, I think it's a solid car. obviously! that's just my opinion.

Junk Chrysler car from the worst time in their history. Only the SRT6 is worth even looking at.
That "carbon fiber" dash kit just makes it look even cheaper. FYI, its Crossfire, not Xfire. |
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. you are right, owning one does make me a bit prejudice. I just love the hunk of junk. happy trails
