Default Alarm issue WAS PSE unit.

Well my random alarm going off WAS the PSE unit. The dealership first told me it was under factory warranty and now they say it isn't. It was $895.30. I've contacted the people I bought the car off of since they gave me 30 days or 1k miles. We'll see what happens. Thanks for the help all!

The bad part about the PSE unit is where it's located and how it's "mounted". It controls the Central Locking and alarm functions as well as some of the lighting functions. When I replaced mine (for a lot less than $800, think I paid $350-400), I also had to take the unit to the dealer to have do a system reset so everything would work again. They did that gratis since I bought the unit from them (otherwise there is a minimum $75 charge for resetting things). Here's what the burned up unit looked like... Burned up PSE..
When I returned it to its hiding place in the right bottom corner behind the tire jack foam block by the spare, I DID NOT wrap it in the "carpet-padding-foam" sponge. Instead I placed it in 2 plastic bags and formed a "drip loop" outside the bags for the wires. Apparently the failure mechanism was most likely water getting into the unit by running down the wires wreaking havoc with the electronics and eventually burning up. I have looked for water in the trunk since then and have found none. The unit was bad when I bought the car.
