RE: Adding a CHIP?
I've seen an actual dyno on a c230 and it's mostly fake. Dyno software has the ability to smooth out noise so momentary spikes, like for 1/100 of second don't show. So what some chip tuners do is turn off this feature so at some momentary spike there is a large gain but it's noise, not realy power. Realistically, the best I've seen from a chip on the M111 motor that you have is about a 3-4HP average across the powerband. I don't know why MB people take tuner's word for granted, you never see this stuff on ricer boards, haha, they spend $600 for a chip it better produce for real on the dyno.

RE: Adding a CHIP?
I don't know anyone that's done it on that motor but from what I've seen, I figure a chip on a non-turbo car is good for about 8hp give or take. Sometimes you can get more for example if you have a lot of mods (intake, exhaust) and you get a custom chip to take advantage of those you may get more benefit. Also, if you are able to run higher octane, for example, here in So Cal the best we can get is 91 octane but some parts of the country can get 93 and a chip that can take advantage of that may yield a few more ponies since MB has to tune the car to run on the worst gas and we have that in So Cal due to the lower octane and high ethanol content.
What's cool on that motor would be the supercharger kits from Kleemann or HPS, that will probably get you more than a 100hp increase.
