'98 SLK - Changed seats - Airbag light is on
Hi, im Konrad from Sweden, thought i should join this great forum since i managed to get myself a '98 SLK200.
I have a problem tho, i just changed my seats to bucket seats (the original seats were worn down), and since the new seats doesn't have a sensor like the one in the original passenger seat, the AIR BAG OFF light next to the shifter is on and the SRS light in the dash goes on and off from time to time, does anyone know how to solve this?
Oh and by the way, i was thinking about changing the light in the dashpanel to some LED's, does anyone know what type of bulbs that are used behind there?
Thanks alot!

I was told in a Swedish Mercedes forum that i could just buy a resistor that had the same resistance as the seat and put it in to fool the system. Are you saying that wont work?
What does the seat sensor actually do? Is it just a weight sensor that senses if a child is sitting in the seat and thus disabling the airbag?

Well ya that makes sense...but you will need to measure the resistance of the seat pad and purchase the exact amount of resistors. also if your buckles have ETR's (emergency tensioning retractors) then you will have to do the same with them. just be carefull....if you don't do it right you may trip the control unit into blowing all the airbags off.
