420 SEL Headlight problem - help?
Hi,
I've had my 1989 420 SEL for about 2-months; I couldn't be happier. However, last night when I was driving home - I hit the "high" beams and the headlights went OUT. I can't get them to come back on. In fact, the "high" beams don't even work in the switched-on position - but they do work when I hold the switch down. Any thoughts? The fuses look OK (none busted) but a little corroded. The problem with the fuses is - I can't figure out which one(s) control the lights; it's in French (of all things - how odd is that)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Jason |

Well - for anyone out there who is having the same problem -I think I've figured it out. [sm=happybounce.gif]
The switch on the steering wheel column appears to be the issue. A little big of wiggling, pushing (and swearing) [&:]seems to have gotten the headlamps to come back on. The only problem is - they go out again if you hit the switch to turn on the high-beams (yes, I was dumb enough to try it again instead of thanking my lucky stars that the lights came back on lol).[sm=badidea.gif] Does anyone know how to replace that switch or where to best place to get one is? j :D |
