1999 SLK dies on hard right turn
I have had a problem for about two years with my 1999 SLK. On the second trip of the day, if you make a hard right turn from a dead stop, the car dies. No lights come on, no nothing. The dealer told me it was "impossible" that it could be happening! Please help.

Hi,
I think I remember you raising this before.
I don't doubt your word and therefore IMPOSSIBLE is not in my vocabulary. Looks like an interesting one.
However, I need more info to try to point a finger on this one.
Is the problem repeatable on demand? or just once in a while?
I guess not otherwise you would have demonstrated to the MB guy.
"Engine dies". What does this mean?
i.e. Engine stops but restarts easily or maybe a hesitation and then surge of power or the like?
Please expand.
What sort of transmission do you have? I assume its a kompressor?
What else happens at the same time?
Rev counter goes off?
ASR light comes on (Yellow Triangle)?....Note. Is your ASR working correctly? Coming out of a junction with a load of power on should provoke the ASR triangle to illuminitate. i.e. the engine power SHOULD BE cut back to limit slip. This should be similar on both LH and RH junctions. If you can't get the ASR to operate maybe try it on a gravel road somewhere since you maynot normally be use to using levels of power required to "spin" the wheels.
I guess I'm looking for Engine Cuts vs Loss of power (lack of boost, ASR) etc.
Everything has a cause. Its just a matter of sifting and analysing the symptoms.
