'01 slk 320 turns over but not fully starting

'01 slk 320 turns over but not fully starting

At random times, car will sound like as if it wants to turn over & almost sounds stuck in that mode, but will not start.
Any suggestions?

battery weak or bad contacts on battery cable.

Actually, it doesn't appear to be the battery. The car cranks fine when cold start, it's after being driven & the car is warm. The car has stalled out while idleling & sounds almost likes it's flooded.

i cannot say that you got a leaking fuel injector... filling up the cylinder when you turn off the engine, and therefore cannot compress (or compression too high).

some tests must be done first.
