I saw some wheels and tires advertized as a direct fit for my SL. The wheels have MB center caps and the tires are Yokohamas (not specified in ad). I'd like to get SOMETHING like this package but these particularhalf-sizes scare me. </P>


Front: 19" x 8.5" with 245-35-ZR19</P>


Rear: 19" x 9.5" with 275-30-ZR19</P>


Does anyone have an aftermarket package on their SL that they're pleased with and would like to discuss? Or one they've been eyeing that they'd like to recommend?</P>


I want some super-wide-looking stickystreet meats on the backand some relatively wide stickies on front. The tires I have spin and slidetoo easily. From a 20 mph roll the car slows down because of wheel spinwhen I dump the throttle pedal. It begins to understeer when I boss it around corners. I'd like tires that will last a reasonable amount of miles so I'm looking for a hybrid tire that is sticky but will last.This would be the beginning of correcting both problems. I know it will take more than just tires.</P>


Any ideas/recommendations?</P>

I'm not sure if those wheels will fit on your car very well but I do know of a nice long lasting very sticky tire that is available and that's the Conti-Extreme contacts. Look them up on Tire-racks web site. I've got them on my wifes C230 and they are nothing but incredible on wet and dry. Also they have a 400 treadwear rating and are V-ratedwhich is awesome for such a sticky tire. Check'em out!!

I've been hearing more andmore good thingsaboutContinental in the past few years. Was the company overtaken? I always passedthem by in the past. I know they've been in racing, but I never thought they were desirable high performance street tires. </P>


I may give them a try. Are they still relatively cheap stacked up to the competition?</P>

very cheap, the conti-extremes I put on my wifes car were $72 a piece. Much cheaper than the Michelins and Dunlops, but don't let the price fool you, they're a great tire. Another great tire that I tried as well are the Kumho's. Those were a cheap, excellent riding tire too. May want to check those out while your looking.

They are all-seasonradials. They're okay, but I'm looking for more stick and it doesn't snow much in the Georgia lowlands so I can tradethe snow treadfor higher dry-road performance.</P>

I decided to just put new tires on the wheels I have, but I'm leaning towards the sticky extreme. I'm getting the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar.</P>

any one have any idea how to reduce the brake dust that sticks to my wheels everytime I drive?:eek:
