I found my 96 SL500 gets better mileage with premium than regular. Since my local station charges 20 cents more per gallon for premium, that means the 20 gallon tank costs $4 more to fill. Depending on your cost, this is about a gallon and 1/2. Check mileage both ways, I think you will appreciate the added performance and improved mileage, I do.

 

as a former owner of an 11:1 ac bristol, i've always believed that 10:1 & up compression ratios should use premium fuel. if you are satisfied with the performance and have no knocking i will be surprised.
