Default Some advise please.

Good Morning, I am new to this site but not to Mercedes ownership. I currently own a 1993 300SE & a 1978 450SL. I am thinking of getting rid of both of these cars and buying another SL, but this time between a 2003-2009.
Reason of course is price; below $20,000.00, but also reliability.
That's where you folks come in.
What should I be on the lookout for on these cars? Is there one year or model
(500 or 550 or even AMG) that is a better "bet?" Note: I am not looking for a year around car, winter in Wisconsin can be...well nuts. For that I have my driver, a 1999 Ford Ranger 4x4. Thank's for any wisdom you can impart.

Default Closing in on a 2006 SL500! What do you think?

Greeting's Team'O
The great hunt for a newer SL has progressed. So here is where I am at...
I have narrowed the field to a 2003 to 2009 SL, mostly because of price & miles. And there are a lot out there, but the one I am closing in on is a 2006 SL500 with a clean CARFAX, and 48,989 miles a Ruby Red with tan interior has the Leather & Wood Package (nice), Active Ventilated Seats, 18" Turbine Rims.
It's looks clean and their price is $19,950.00

PS: I asked about the ABC system service, and the state it is up to date, I will of course check it to be sure.

So, is there anything else I should be on the look out for on this car?

Make sure to get a full PPI report from an independent MB mechanic. The car could look really clean on the outside and be a nightmare under the hood. The report should give you exactly the info you'll need in making up your mind. Best of luck.

I think from 06 to 08 may have some engine issues, fixed in 09, research. the abc and transmission fluid should be changed at 40k. car should set level. unless you have deep pockets, you need to be able to do most work yourself. in the winter, drive on dry sunny days. it's not good to let them set for too long. avoid salted roads
