Default Seat at Rear

I want to buy a SL350 but the two seats represents a problem I have test driven this car a love it. I wondered whether anyone has customised it to fit at least one passenger in the rear as in my view, the potential is there.

If you move the front passenger seat forward, can you not fit someone in the read albeit uncomfortable

I've seen aftermarket rear jump seats for my SL600. You could probably get them for your SL350 too. I can't imagine putting anything back there except for GI Joe dolls, and I don't have any GI Joe dolls so I don't have the seats. Maybe you could get up to a two-year-old strapped in, but I dunno for sure.

As lugnut mentioned, it is a very tight fit. I have seen aftermarket jump seats that slot right in for sale. The ones that I have seen are quite ugly. Also, they are illegal down here in Australia. And if the rollbar (if you have one) were to pop up, or, heaven forbid, the car to rollover the rear passenger would get a nice little headache.

So from my opinion, I'd advise against it. Unless of course you like to drive GI Jo's around or your very small dwarf friend[8D].

I have a rear seat in my 500SL in Australia, for occasional use by children mainly.
Roll bar has to be placed in up position, so it can't pop up in a roll over hitting heads.
The main thing I don't like, is only having lap seat belts in the back, because there is
no strong place to mount the upper part of a lap sash.
