Put the ’91 sl300 away for the winter and discovered the remote doesn’t work. Key locks/unlocks the doors & trunk, vacuum pump runs, green light/red light flashes, etc. The key fob red led light flashes and I tried the programming method in the manual (lock or unlock, press remote within 30 seconds) and had no luck. I also installed 4 new batteries in the fob with no better results. This brings me to two questions;

The first is I’m guessing a remote sensor or the unit is toast & it would likely be a waste of time taking it to the dealer to let him try to program it?


The second question is am I locked out of this car if the battery goes dead? I hope the key lock works directly on the lock mechanism for that door & it would unlock, but??
