Remnoving Shifter Knob?
 

Im in MTT(machine tool technology) in my school and I thought a kool thing to make would be a new shifter knob. Only problem is that I dk how to get that dang thing off. I tried to just unscrew it but it dident budge. Can someone tell me how to remove it. O yeah the car is a 500 SL if that matters.

there is a plastic peice at the bottom of the shift knob, it should twist, when it stops pull up hard un the knob

there is no plastic piece on the bottom of my shifter knob, its just the shifternob right onto the shaft that goes down into the center console. When I look down to where the shifter mounts I can see a nut that goes around the shaft. Possibly I just need to lossen that up.
