Rear Boot won't fully close
 

I am new to this forum hoping to find a solution to my problem. I have a 2003 SL500 and when i was closing my top, it stopped with the boot fully opened at first, then came down slowly. It is at the point now where the top front is latched but be rear boot stopped 3" from being fully closed. I can't access the trunk with the key because of the trunk boot not completing the cycle. Is there a way i can open the boot towards the rear of the car so i can access the trunk. I drove the car 1 hour in hopes the rear battery would charge and the closing cycle would complete. No such luck... The message ctr states Top is in operation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I looked all over the internet for a solution. Thanks for your help!
