PLEASE help!
 

1998 sl500 .. after not driving for several days
Low level whir or fan like sound from dash and windshield
Area.. Any idea what I should look for ? Had to disconnect battery
To make it stop. Not evident while running seems to start about
10 seconds after turning car off and removing key. Please ideas?

there is a really small fan, part of the cabin temperature sensor, above the rear view mirror in the housing for the dome lights. hard to imagine that it could make that noise, I don't know, this is a new one for me.??. You checked under the hood for the sound and you're pretty sure it's coming from inside.? I can't think of any other fans, other than the blower. does your car have an anti-theft siren or is it tied into the horns? when my Xfire siren went bad it sounded pretty sad, otherwise it would have woke some neighbors, and it would come on in the middle of the night. hey, shooting at straws here.

When you turn the key off, are the red and blue switches just above the center vents illuminated or dark.
