I am considering what to build for my geriatric hot rod. I am wondering if there are performance parts out in the great beyond for the V12 mercedes. There is nothing quite like the sound of a 12 cylinder with the right exhaust note. Supercharging is obviously the number one performance upgrade when accompanied by the right internal engine parts, the question is are those parts out there? Secondly is the rest of the drive train capable of handling a healthy V12? The other choice on the drawing board is an LS2 Chevy in a Miata. While 500+ HP in a 2500 pound car would be an "E" ticket ride the car is basically useless as anything but a toy while the SL can hold enough stuff in the trunk for a weekend jaunt etc. Any information available would be appreciated

 

If your going to DIY then the M113 SL500 hasmany more upgrade avvailable.

If you would like to get 525+ HPout of an M120 SL600 you can go with Brabus 7.3 SLor aRENNtech 7.4 SL.

FWIW, the V8 engine bay has much more room to work in or add tothan a V12
