Which oils and lubricants for 92 sl500

She's coming up for her first in house service, can anyone please advise on the best oils, lubricants and filters?

Also does the oil need to be removed thru the dipstick via a siphon?

Thanks in advance

GF

there's a 13mm plug on the oil pan underneath for draining. you'll have to remove the splash guard to access, there are 4 8mm screws or a 5/16 socket will work to remove . mahle-knecht, bosch or mann filters are ok. as far as oil, most any full synthetic will be fine. I happen to use 7 quarts of full synthetic castrol 10-40. 10-30 would work just fine too. Even though I use synthetic I still change it at about every 6,000 miles. Some think that's a waste, but that's my personal preference and I have my reasons. get a filter wrench for a mercedes, I use a socket style filter wrench that I can use with a ratchet and an extension. look into the filter housing after filter is removed to see if there is any excessive amount of oil left inside. refer to your owners manual if you have one. if not, you may find one on ebay. It's a good idea to have one.

Cheers Brookings, I will start my service this weekend. I'm in the process of buffing up and polishing the paintwork, so far it's starting to look great, I'll add some images this weekend when I get 5 minutes.
