OEM tire

What is the brand /model /size of the OEM tire for my 1998 SL 500?

225/55/16 I believe is the OEM tire size for your car. As for brand, I'd recommend Michelin.

You can also go to tirerack.com , and use the search by model tool. You'll get the brand and size of the OE tire.

these tires and wheels were about a $5,000 option, 245/40ZR/18 front 275/35ZR/18 rear. 225/55ZR/16 all around came standard

Tire size

Thanks guys, I have the 255/55/16 on there now but they are Yokohama s. I suspected the Michelin would be the OEM tire. My S500 sedan uses Michelin Energy tires which are not made any longer, but I was able to find a set of unused spares from the breakers, one at a time.
These are wonderful cars but can be fussy about the exact tire.
