i have just bought an 88 560SL VIN WDBBA48D5JA080443 and was told (?) that it was a Euro specs 560SL (????). Can anyone tell me if this is true? Can't seem to find any info on this...
But I do love the car so I'll make do if it's incorrect.
White, navy interior, original paint, original radio, andit seems54'000 km...

 

My understanding was that the 560SL was a North American only vehicle but I have heard unsubstantiated rumors that a few 560SLs were made for export to Japan (rhd).

 

Thanks Delta, the exports are confirmed and I actually got the reply from other members on a separate post. Thanks for the input. Right now i'm waiting to receive a whole bunch of parts to start work on the car.

 

How I can identify the (Digit) for car color from VIN: WDBBA48D5JA000000

the bottom line is that you can't identify the color from the VIN (directly). You'll have to get the "data card" that is attached to the car's VIN. That will get you a series of number codes (like 740 - 825 - 704 - etc etc). These codes refer to the build of your car and will give you the color scheme etc.
