As a new member, I want to say how much I have enjoyed reading this site. As a modest contribution, I would like to offer the following.
Re my 600 SL Black, every month or so I take the 2 air filters out and wipe them off with a brush, also wipe the dirt/dust from inside of the filter holder and the compartment. I am always amazed how this improves engine performance.

A word of caution recently while buffing I managed to inflict some serious scratches not with the pad, but with the cord. A tough lesson to learn.

Our cars Sl600 & E320, never see a car wash or
soap. Using mircofiber rags and Malco "Showroom
Shine" they always look good. In all fairness I must explain, we live in Hilton Head SC, never see snow, am retired and have plenty of time on my hands.

At present using a Milwaukee buffer but am finding it too heavy, will probably get a Mikita.

Using 3M Perfect-It Compound, Imperial Hand Glaze and PS 21.

Problems- the 600 SL is 1994, milage is 100,400, minor items, wiper relay needs replacing, overhead bulb out, small chips in hood. Have replaced soft top, leather seats and it looks super.

Having a black car is a curse and a blessing,
but I thoroughly enjoy taking car of it.

Thanks for listening.
