I need a little help I have a 79 450 SLC, My car drives fine but this week, it shut off on me twice, as long as I am stepping on the gas and moving it works fine as soon I get to stop light it will turn off and will not turn on unless I keep the gas pedal pressed. It only happens after a long drive, Once it happens I can not take my foot off the gas or it will turn off which creates issues when I am at a stop sign once it shuts off i need to shift from park to drive with the gas pedal pressed. it will start working like normal once the car cools down, any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks.

 

Depending where you are located it could be a vapor lock in the fuel system. Does this happen year round and where are you located?
