Hi all,

I am currently a 911 owner and I am looking to becoming a Mercedes SL 500 or 55 owner. i would probably only be able to stretch to an SL500. Can anyone direct me to anywhere on this forum that can give me information on common issues, things to look out for, buying advice, reliability news, scary expensive things that go wrong etc?

To revive this thread for this guy and myself I am also going to be buying an SL500 next year when I have my savings account where it needs to be for my payments to be affordable. I'll be 30 years old when I buy one so my insurance will not be much, also helps that I have a clean driving record and no accidents *knock on wood*.

I am going to be looking at 2003-2005 models and need to know what buying tips, mechanical issues/repairs to expect and just some common issues/gripes from R230 SL500 owners. I specifically came here to find the information I need to make an educated decision.
