Default increase timing chain tension by cranking

I have not started my 1987 560sl in quite a while. I was advised to crank it for a bit before starting. This would splash some oil around and most importantly (I was told) increase the tension of the tensioner (hydraulically). I once saw a mechanic stick something in the OBD connector that inhibited ignition. It's a nine pin connector and I want to short the correct pins so as to inhibit ignition. I noticed pins 3 and 4 had a paint mark on them so I am thinking he shorted those pins. Any ideas??
I know I can remove the wire to the coil, but it's kind of corroded on.
