How much should I pay for a 1987 560sl?
I'm thinking of buying a 1987 560 sl with hard top. It has 150,000mi runs and drives great the interior needs a little TLC but the exterior looks great. I have not checked out the soft top yet and the sellers states that is has not been used in ten years so there is a potential issue there. The stock stereo and auto antenna is not working and the AC needs to be charged.
List of things that have been done within 5 years:
New AC
Timing chain and belts
Plugs, wires and cap
Mich tires
Trans service
Brakes
Vacume hoses
He wants 3500.00 for the car does this sound like a good price?

was it the ac compressor that's new? I'm puzzled, as to why the system needs to be charged? the freon went someplace. check for a light oil around the evaporator drain. that indicates a freon leak. I don't know how hard that is replace on a 107, but it's a pain on a 129, the whole dash has to come out. if there is a leak, replace heater core while you're in there. other than that, the cars sounds like a good buy. most of the things that needed to be done has been. should be good for a lot of future enjoyment.

The seller said that it has been siting for a while and that's why the AC won't blow cold. But your right the freon has to leak from somewhere. About the rust, there is one very small spot on the rear above the bumper everywhere else looks good. I live in NC so there is never any salt on the roads like up north I know that kills cars.
My question now is if I kept it for a while and decided to sell it would I be able to get more than 3400.00?
