headlight comes on/off
 

I'm the owner of a 93 500sl and have a problem with my passanger side low beam headlight. It comes on and goes out randomly. sometimes it's activated by the high beams (meaning if you keep switching between high and low, the low beam may stay on for a while), but not always. I've replaced the bulb, but it hasn't improved the problem. has anyone been through this with their sl???

Found the problem. just as a reference in case someone comes across this problem, the light bulb plug for the headlight was corroded. So, sometimes it made good contact with the bulb terminals and sometimes it didn't. this caused the headlight to go out. I replaced the plug by cutting the wires on the harness and replacing it by an aftermarket plug (costed only $2.95).

Hi i was wondering where u bought the plug because i may need to replace mine and id rather pay 3 dollars for aftermarket

From a local auto part store. I beleive it was Kragen auto parts. I just grabbed one of the bulbs and asked for the plug. It wasn't an off the shelf item. good luck.
