Good for a Mile or Two
 

Hi All, Iv'e got a 95 Sl500 that cranks and runs like a dream, the problem that started a couple of weeks ago is that it will only go a mile or two and shuts off. When it tries to resart it just backfires and chokes out, leave it 30 minutes and it cranks and runs perfectly again.

I drove it to store today and ran fine , when I came out it wouldn't start, I went back inside and bought staring fluid and sprayed it and it tried to start, backfired a few times ang quit trying to start., I sat there and waited a while and it cranked and ran fine 2 miles home.

Anyone ever had or seen this problem I would appreciate any info. you may have.

Sounds like vapor lock. Quit trying to drive it until you get it fixed, it's not healthy for the engine.
