Exhaust smell?
 

Need some advice.
I just bought this great old 500SL (1983 EU model, with 58K miles), all good except the exhaust smell is killing the joy of top down driving.
I took the car to my local MB mechanic, he adjust the fuel (was really way too rich), it's much better, but not fixed completely.
Symptons- white exhaust (until well warmed up), water (drops) exhausting, bogs a little on hard accellerations, some slight missing at idle- but not always consistant.
I suspected the cold start sensor, but the mechanic said this was fine. I've run several tanks of gas through, so I think it's not bad gas in the tank.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, this is ruining an otherwise great car.
