Question Consumers Battery

I drive my SL couple times a week. Even though I have driven just the day before, the "Electric Consumers Off Line" is annunciated on every start up. After a couple miles, the warning disappears. Is this typical or is my Consumers Battery faulty?

its a signal that the voltage has dropped below what the system wants to see, i do not recall the threshold, some systems are maintained by the appliance battery and they are shut down to prevent complete discharge, if it goes down after only one day, it suggests the battery is becoming weak or is not being charged adequately...
how old is the battery...?

Battery could be original. The Varta Battery Web site does not list any sales locations for the U.S. Looked at several MB parts suppliers and they do not list Varta Batteries either. Do you know of any suppliers other than MB new car dealers?

i have searched with no success both the varta and optima websites, i cannot find a varta outlet in the us, and optima no longer lists replacements for mercedes autos..
both by the way are built by JCI (johnson controls) if you can go to a local
parts store that handles optima, here in virginia autozone and advance auto both do...
if you get a clerk with the time, nerve and demeanor... they might be able to help you.

i would hope some more experienced members might comment here to help you..
sorry.

Interstate Batteries is Country wide, has a good warranty and the batteries are extremely robust and reliable.
The fitment is excellent and I think you'll find a supplier at damn near every corner.

Default Consumers Battery

just was wondering. i have had 7 mb and didnt think about until was eading this thread. i have a 94 sl500. how many batteries are in this sl? i do know of the one in the trunk which i think is the battery that runs the starter etc... is there another one and if so where is it.. by the way, i do not run my car very often so purchased a battery tender to maintain charge. what does everyone think of this?

Roger,
you only have one battery and yes i believe in battery tenders for cars not driven often

Jerry
p/s just remember if you have a MB dealer near you ,you can call for a jump free of charge no mater how old your Benz is . its a service they provide to all Benz owners. even if you run out of gas too .
