Chrome rims or re-dip to chrome

Does anyone have experience with dipping wheels to be chromed? Once they dip them will they fit again? Since chrome is another coating does the wheels become unbalance?

Or does anyone out there have a set of chrome wheels they want to trade for my polish ones off my 88 560sl?
