Central locking vacuum device
Hello, i have a 2002 Mercedes SL500...my door locking clicker stopped working so i changed the 3 v battery in it...did not work,i took it to the Local Mercedes dealership and of course they found a laudry list of items that needed fixing totaling $7,000. Well i was told that the Central locking vacuum pump needed replacement and it would cost $1,500. I took my car home to sleep on it. I was unable to open the gas tank door which posed the most problem. This evening i replaced fuse # 5, my clicker unlocked the doors and the gas tank but the fuse blew out again and for a third time.(I did manage to keep the gas tank door open so i could re fuel. I found the central vacuum pump in the pasanger side of the trunk, nothing was loose as far as the hoses are concerned. How do i know if this is what needs to be replaced. I was quoted 3 hours of labor to replace but it looks like i can do it myself. Is there a trick to it? (I am pretty handy for a female)
