Default 560SL broken visor

The visor on my wife's 1988 560SL (driver's side) hasn't stayed in the upmost positonfor a while. We had the car detailed yesterday and now the plastic "connector" tab that attaches it to the car is broken. I called the dealer and they can get either a new visor or just the clip in a day or so. (We're not interested in making the detail guy fix it because the owner is a friend and the detail job was his gift.)

My questions:

1) Is that plastic part part of the clip or part of the visor? (I can't see how to remove it so it's hard to tell.)
2) How do you remove the visor and the mounting clip?

I'd like to fix this ASAP since I had to tie the visor over to the side and up out of the way (using the hard top roof handle) so it's as if there's no visor.
Thanks in advance,
Charlie

Mine broke too. Pretty easy to remove and I found a replacement part online for <$20. There is a phillips screw about midway across the top cover. That loosens the top. Due to the age it's probably stuck up there. I had to slowly coax the cover off the cross bar. The side cover is held on with clips. Once those are out of the way, I removed my visor with the two philips screws so it was out of the way until the part came in. Be careful wiht the wire to the mirrow lights. I cut mine and it shorted the fuze out. Sigh. The new piece just cliped on to the visor. I reinstalled everything and it works.
