Default 320SL Hydraulic top problems

Any suggestions as to why hydraulic fluid is leaking from the windshield frame around the visors on both sides ('94 SL320)? Hardtop is on, but there is a constant drip on both sides. Anything I could check for and maybe do something to at least stop the drip? Also...how do you change an instrument bulb?

Your cylinders are leaking that lock down top in front. They cost 150.00 or so a piece to fix. You can check by taking off cover 2 or 4 screws hold it on.

Do they need to be taken to the dealer or is it an easy fix?

Hi there

Actually I have some hydraulic problems too !!

The unit that you need to replace can be installed quite easily.

So you don't need to go to an official dealer.

If you want I can ask for you how much they charge 4 it in Holland cause
I get 20-30 % discount at a parallel import for mercedes parts direct from Mercedes Benz !

The bulbs you can replace quite easily too:

order 2 special tools at your mercedes dealer: it is a hook
a special tool, like a screwdriver with a hook (90 degrees)

Then you place it gently on top of the instrument panel
left and right and then you can pull gently.

Please note don't damage your dashboard !!!

Also I have found a solution to put BLUE light in your dashboard !!!
It looks pretty cool and makes the car 5 to 10 years younger

Have a nice day

regards from Holland

Hans

I have the same problem in my '94 SL320, glad to know it is relatively cheap to fix, especially since an estimate I received was for MUCH more than that.

Thanks!
