For those of you with a 2005 SL500, don't throw away the envelope from Mercedes thinking it is just junk mail. It says "a thank you from Mercedes Benz" on the front, and contains an American Express prepaid card, worth $50. It is to apologize for the inconvenience and disruption of the recall. I haven't tried it yet, but it does seem legit. Update: used it last night for pizza, accepted without problems!
