2004 SL600 rattle
Engine is still cold; Driving for the first 10-15 minutes I hear a light tinging noise (or rattle) from behind the seats, I think its coming from under the Rollcage assembly. I had it checked by my Mercedes dealer several times and they said it was because I installed a Brabus rear muffler. I had the stock muffler sent from Germany and installed the original exhaust (because Brabus kept mine), but the problem still exists. I checked everywhere that I have access to without removing the interior panels but i still have no luck in finding this annoying noise. The dealership even took it all apart to search for the sound, but no luck..!! Any body else having this problem??
yes it is a metal to metal sound. behind the seats are compartment storage areas, behind the passenger seat compartment is the access to the fuse box. If I open the cover I can hear it more clearly (its louder with the cover off) So it appears that its in that area. I cant figure it out. [:@]
okay, which of these things best describes your problem?
i can send the details.

Hmmm i dont see how the rear tailight can make a metal to metal tinging sound, also the noise goes away after driving for 15 minutes (possibly after a lose part shifts from driving) (or heats up) but I will check it out......more detailed information would be a big help. thanks for the replys sleepwalker. [sm=thanx.gif](keep them comin)
what i mean is on the second attachment (the dark one) is the list of all noises from your car model from the rear area.
there are 12 of them and i want you to choose one if it fits the description so i can open and check it.
i cannot post them all since it will be a waste of time.

some of the things which i haven't encounter before, i get them from service informations, modification updates, training tips, and CD or DVD.
some production defect or confidential matters are not exposed to customers, but we are informed to secretly fix them on the next car visit. we have these informations on PDF files or excel.
it's a wide variety of choices, but mainly from WIS. you can have it if you can afford the price. here in china, the installation is between free to $200, you provide your own computer.
before others can download them in EMule, but maybe those files are not complete anymore.

Since I bought my old gal 3rd hand, I don't get any service informations, modification updates, training tips. :-(
Do you have any leads/specifics on CDs or DVDs (names that I can look up)?
I'm not looking for production defect or confidential matters, but just num_sleepy, ways to identify rattles, etc. (as well as how to debug an eye-glasses compartment that doesnt want to open any more ;-)
It sounds like I can afford the price for WIS, but don't know what it is (or what it stands for). Would also be interested in any EMule links (or words to look up). :-)
Regards

I think it would be a couple of them. first would be "Rattling noise in sliding roof panel" And second would be "Noises in rear window stop Buffer". Both of these would be great if you have them. [sm=icon_cheers.gif]
