Default 2004 SL design flaw: boot seals

So my local merc specialist has warned me there seems to be a design flaw in the SLs they're starting to see, namely water collecting in the boot.

This then gets absorbed by the foam around the central locking pump, rots the pump and you're looking at £700 to replace it, snd they've had a couple of cases already.

Apparently the options are: always garage, use a car cover or have re-designed boot seals fitted.

Can anyone else shed light / experience?
