1990 SL300

Hello MB fans. I'm about to take delivery of a 1990 SL300 with 101,000 miles. It appears to be in excellent condition and has been well taken care of. I'm a nut for preventative maintenance and proactive upgrades. Since this is my first MB, I would greatly appreciate any input from you experienced and knowledgable owners. Thanks in advance for taking any effort to help me enjoy this terrific car.

RE: 1990 SL300

I got one 4yrs ago with 65K on her. My biggest problemwas finding a good servicer. I paid 18K at the time. I've put aprox. 30K into repairs and of that 1/2 was just throwing money out the window for nothin. I don't blame the car, I love the car. Just becareful who you let work on her.I would suggest getting an online subscription to www.alldata.com. this will give you an idea as to what is fair when you take your sweetheart in for repair and youcan do some stuff yourself.Just the same, hold on to your wallet. The alldata subscription is a good idea, but purchasing the R129 Tech DVD from Mercedes is much better. And at $75 it is only a little more money. Purchase information is here: http://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/outside/8002/?requestedDocId=8002.

These cars can be ridiculously expensive to own or relatively cheap. It all depends on luck and you. If you are willing to do your own repairs, then you can save yourself alot of money. These cars are particularly easy to troubleshoot and work on.
