1990 SL 500 FUSE /ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS
Hi,
I have a 1990 SL500 w/19,000 original miles. The car sat all winter and now has a dead battery. I jumped the car correctly and it ran fine, everything working. After a 45 min drive , I parked it and proceded to re-start it. BONE DEAD. I pulled the battery out and installed a new one correctly. Car fired up and runs no problem. Now electrically half of the car works. I have no radio, gauges, key less enrty, power locks, power seats, and most likely some others not working. I checked the fuse box under the hood and by the battery . All fuses appear good. I don't have a owners manuel or repair manuel. Are there more fuse boxes/ or fusible links somewhere else??? Any suggestions??

Hi Curt,
I certainly am no expert, however, I suspect what you are experiencing is not an electrical problem.
I believe that you have to insert the radio anti-theft code to reactivate the radio once the battery has been disconnected. The key less entry and power locks may also be part of the anti-theft system; however, I can’t explain the power seats!
There may be an additional fuse panel located in the front “foot well” under the carpeting of the of the passenger side floor?
Good luck!
Jim
