Hi, I have an opportunity to buy a original owner 1987 560SL in nice condition, 62,000 orig miles. Some minor cosmetic issues with the paint -and has been garaged. The asking price is $15,000 on consignment from a restoration dealership. I have not owned a Mercedes in the past, actually a BMW guy - but this looks like a nice start. Are there any specific or general issues with the 87 SL i should be looking for or asking? Does 15k should resonable? Any help would certainly be appreciated - thanks Al

 

I've owned or driven SL's from all 3 recent series.
For the same money or less, you can get a late 90's R129 model.
The technology difference is huge.
The 1987 was designed in the early 70's.
Other than nostalgia, or looks, I see nothing to recommend those old beasts.
