I need to replace the stereo in my "83 380SL, but none of the "fit guides" I could find on-line list my model (or anything before 1984). Any suggestions? I will be replacing the speakers as well.

 

Any single DIN chassis head unit will fit. Almost all new head units have their own mounting slide frame that fits in the aperture where the original head unit was located and use a wiring harness. Just fit the exisitng wires to the harness, plug the harness into the back of the new unit and slide the unit into the frame. You may want to add a set of rear speakers; richly rewarding but a pain in the rear to install. I just installed a brand new Pioneer DEH-P3100UB into my '83 107 which I got for $50 in an online auction, same seller has plenty available.
