I have an opportunity to pick up a 1982 SL380 from a friend for a very good price. $4000. Car only has 42,000 miles on the clock. AZ car so it has some sun damage. Outside needs a good buff and polish, but it is straight. Interior needs a few cosmetic items. Dash is cracked. Car starts right up and runs smooth. Some oil splatter underneath, but nothing dripping. What issues do I need to look at on this vehicle? I know nothing about them. What inherent problems could I face? Any advise would be greatly appreciated so I know if I am making a good buy.

 

get a carfax report to make sure of the mileage and any past issues. has it been garage kept? check door, top and trunk seals. check all the accessories.
