2000 S430 problem starting
Hi there, I just got a 2000 s430 100K miles and all was well for 1day. The car would crank but not turn over(catching). I let it sit for a few hours, tried again and all went well for2 days. This time the car had sat for 3 hrs and then would not start. Finally it started. The engine light says nothing.

A few things to do to move your problem forward.
Any DTC Diagnostic Codes set?
Is there adequate fuel pressure in the engine fuel rail. Usually there is a schraeder valve to assist in measuring this. This will help determine if the pump etc is working.
Alternatively determine what voltage is across the fuel pump whilst engine is cranking (assuming the pump is running)
Is there a spark during the period that the engine cranks but fails to start. Remove one plug lead. Connect to a spare plug that is suitably positioned and grounded and observe.

RE: 2000 S430 problem starting
Hi, I am sorry to hear about your S430 not starting. I hope that you have 30 days warranty. I am in a process of buying a S430 with 98,000 miles wholesale prices was $14,876 with taxes and tag in Florida no warranty. How much did you pay for yours?

most common problem with not starting would be the Crank Posiotion Sensor ($140 part). If everything else like fuel pump, fuel filter, spark, plugs checks out ok then look into the CPS.....it would most defenitely be it since it does not throw any codes(most of the times)
