Value of 560 sel w/ 58k
 

Hey all, I'm new to this forum, and was just curious on what you all thought a realistic value of a 1989 Mercedes 560 SEL with 61,000 miles would be worth. Or what the best way to find out would be... I may sell it soon but not really sure, either way I need a legit insurance value for it and it is worth more then they say it is. It also has be mercedes maintained its whole life.... any help much appreciated

insurance rates are always less than what the car is actually worth, well most of the time. Most insurance use a formula that basically uses a "wrecked" value compared to the cost to fix and if that cost to fix go over a certain percentage, usually 75%-85% then they call the car a total loss and cut you a check of what their stated value of the car is.

It's sometimes hard to put a finger on what the value of W126s these days because it varies widely and depends on what the person is willing to spend and how much the person is willing to let it go. KBB seem to dont look favorable on old Euros regardless of how many miles on them, you might get a value of $3,000-$4,000 or so there. A 1989 MBZ 560 in pristine condition with 61k can be seen to be sold around the neighborhood of $7,500 and up. Some in the teens. When you talking about low mileage example like that, maintaince records is what can add or subtract a few grand from the "value" for people in the market for those cars. There should be maintance records or maintance done at some point in time as lots of stuff wear out with time instead of miles.

one way to find a legit, insurance value is to call around to different companies. More than likely you'll get different answers, and some will give you no answers, but then you can get a pretty good figure what the insurance value of the car is.
