spilled water in trunk and radio wont work
yesterday i stopped at the local grocery store to pick up a couple 5 gallon bottles of water and on my way back home while i had them in the trunk one of them decided to spill and now my radio wont put out any sound. the nav/radio works unit up front works fine but i just get no sound out of the speakers. so what im here asking is there any fuse or fuses that would that would blow out and cause my radio not to work ohh btw the car is a 2002 mercedes s500.

RE: spilled water in trunk and radio wont work
Can't think of anything that would be adversely affected by such a leak.
Only the battery is below the trunk level. Got it. Do you have a CD changer in the boot? If so thats likely the problem. Let it dry out and see what happens. there will be a fuse for this unit somewhere (likely in the rear footwell by the footwell lamp) but don't replace until the water has dryed out otherwise you may increase the chance of blowing the CD unit permanently. do think it might be the amplifier.

Your failure may have nothing to do with the water.
Could be amplifier but I don't think it is located in the boot! Stuart |

RE: spilled water in trunk and radio wont work
Where is the amplifier located in an S430 2000 model? I have the same exact problem...no spilled water but the same issue......no sound out of any speakers but the unit in the dash works fine. I checked the fuses under the hood but they looked good. I did not check the large square fuses though. Are there fuses in the trunk? If so where?
Thank you all :) My singing is not too good! Don Weintraub 2000 S430 Dallas, Texas |

the amp is located on the left side of the trunk, and sits low like the battery. it is mounted to the frame that holds the CDC
